How the term "Genocide '' is defined?

 

The term "Genocide '' is defined in Article II of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and punishment of the Crime of Genocide as:

" Any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
Killing member of the group;
Causing serious bodily or mental harms to members of the groups;
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group
Forcibly transferering children of the group to another group."

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of This Crime , and in September of 2025 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution A/RES/79/328 expressing concern that, despite the efforts of the international community, many thousands of innocent human beings continue to be victims of genocide.
